'Big summer' for Liverpool as transfer priorities revealed

Your Site News' Vinny O'Connor:

"Finances are not the issue; they have been pretty good over the years at balancing the books.

"Yes, they had a big spend [last season]. But the net spend was not massive because of the players they were able to offload.

"In that respect, they are in good shape. They do need to add to the squad, though.

"When you look at the squad, they need to bring in pace to the wide forward areas. Yan Diomande is one they have identified but they are facing competition.

"You look at the back line, [Jeremy] Jacquet is coming in, [Giovanni] Leoni is already there but he's been out all season with the ACL [injury]. They are two young lads at centre-half.

"Ibrahima Konate is also gone. You have to wonder if they need further experience there. Particularly with the injury record of Joe Gomez and Connor Bradley.

"One other area which would help Andoni Iraola is at No 6. Ryan Gravenberch has been successful but his workload has been massive.

"It's a big summer for Liverpool if they want to play the way they want to play moving forward."

Konate edges closer to Real Madrid move as talks continue

Latest from Your Site News' Adrian Kajumba and Amar Mehta:

Ibrahima Konate is increasingly likely to sign for Real Madrid after his exit from Liverpool was confirmed.

Talks are ongoing between the club and the player; however, any potential move would depend on their ongoing presidential elections.

Konate announced that he is leaving Liverpool after five years at Anfield, where he won the Premier League, the FA Cup and League Cup.

The 27-year-old was also part of France's 2022 World Cup squad that finished second in Qatar and will be hoping they can go one step further this year. Didier Deschamps side are in Group I, with Iraq, Norway and Senegal.

No concerns over Ndiaye future at Everton

Latest from Your Site News' Vinny O'Connor:

Everton are not concerned about the future of Iliman Ndiaye, who is under contract until 2029.

The club have previously held talks over an improved deal, with nothing agreed yet.

The Senegal international moved to Everton in July 2024 from French side Marseille. He has played 71 times for Everton in all competitions, scoring 17 goals.

Ndiaye was also part of the Senegal side that reached the African Cup of Nations final earlier this year. He has been called up for the World Cup by Pape Thiaw, with their opening game taking place against France, where Ndiaye was born.

McKenna high on Fulham's shortlist of Silva successors

Latest from Your Site News' Lyall Thomas and James Cole:

Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna is expected to be high on Fulham's shortlist to replace Marco Silva.

Your Site News understands McKennas compensation would be in the region of 8m after becoming a Premier League manager with Ipswich again.

Fulham have not contacted any potential successors yet, with Silva having only just confirmed that he will leave on Tuesday.

But the Ipswich boss has admirers at many clubs, including at Craven Cottage, and he is expected to be among the names under serious consideration.

He has twice promoted Ipswich from the Championship and been in contention for the head coach role at Chelsea, Manchester United and others in the past few years.

Silva set to take over at Benfica after Fulham exit

Latest from Your Site News' Lyall Thomas, Vik Varange and Chris Reidy:

Marco Silva is set to take over as Benfica head coach after leaving Fulham

An agreement has been reached on a three-year deal plus an optional year until 2029.

'Change is inevitable - we'll soon appoint a new leader'

Fulham owner Shahid Khan on Marco Silva's departure:

Marco Silva leaves our club with my gratitude and best wishes. Fulham and Marco were an excellent fit for five seasons, but change is inevitable in this game, and weve accordingly prepared for this moment.

The talent in our squad, our historic home ground of Craven Cottage, our faithful supporters, and my commitment to backing the club, all make Fulham an extraordinarily attractive destination for an incoming head coach.

We will soon appoint a new leader in a timely but deliberate manner, who will meet the standards of our club and expectations of our fans throughout the world.

Silva to leave Fulham

Fulham have announced that head coach Marco Silva will leave the club this summer.

The Portuguese has been strongly linked with a move to Benfica as Jose Mourinho's replacement at the Lisbon club.

Silva has been in charge at Craven Cottage for five years - winning the Championship in his first season in the 2021-22 campaign, before establishing Fulham as a Premier League club.

Silva said: "To our fans I asked you, from day one, to always be with us. And thats what you did these past five years. We achieved a lot together.

"My staff and I always felt your support. It will never be forgotten. Fulham will always be in my heart, and sooner or later I will be back at Craven Cottage."

Dons agree deal for Ronan

Latest from Your Site News' Anthony Joseph:

Its understood the paperwork on the deal is being processed by MLS and is expected to be completed by the opening of the Scottish transfer window on June 15.

Ronan is still finalising personal terms with the Dons.

Newcastle release three senior players

Newcastle have released John Ruddy, Max Thompson and Matt Targett following the expiry of their contracts.

The trio are the latest to exit the club following the departures of Kieran Trippier and Emil Krafth.

Goalkeeping duo Ruddy and Thompson have moved on while fellow shot-stopper Mark Gillespie will continue his role in the squad for a further year.

Targett spent last season on loan at Championship side Middlesbrough having been one of Eddie Howes first signings. He made 47 appearances following his arrival from Aston Villa in January 2022.

Goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale will return to parent club Southampton following the culmination of his season-long loan. Ramsdale played 23 times in all competitions for Newcastle this season.

Schar extends Newcastle deal

Newcastle defender Fabian Schar has signed a new one-year deal with the club.

The 34-year-old's contract was set to expire at the end of June but the Switzerland international will now enter his ninth season at St. James Park.

The centre-back is the second-longest serving player in the Newcastle squad, having arrived from Spanish side Deportivo La Corua in July 2018 and making 251 appearances.
