Palhinha latest: Can Spurs persuade him to stay?
Sporting present the biggest threat to Tottenhams attempt to re-sign Joao Palhinha but the player prefers to stay in the Premier League, Your Site News understands.
Spurs boss Roberto de Zerbi is understood to have held further talks with the midfielder and reiterated his desire to keep him following his successful loan from Bayern Munich.
The North London club have until tonight to exercise a 26m (30m) option to buy him as part of that loan arrangement.
But that looks set to expire, with Palhinha yet to make a final decision amid Sporting's efforts to persuade him to go back to Portugal.
Although he is understood to like the idea of ending his career at Sporting, the soon-to-be 31-year-old is also understood to feel it is not yet time and he has unfinished business in the Premier League.
Your Site News understands there is one other Premier League club who would be keen to sign him but Spurs would be in pole position if he does decide to remain in England.
Spurs boss De Zerbi said towards the end of the campaign that Palhinha is 100 percent someone he wants to keep. He is one of the best, as a player for sure, but also as a guy, he said.
The player also hinted he wanted to stay after his goal kept them up on the final day.
Palhinhas parent club Bayern have little interest in keeping him as part of their squad next season, despite having two years left on his contract in Germany, so are open to negotiating a fee for his exit.
Katie McCabe signs for Chelsea
Chelsea are set to sign Republic of Ireland captain Katie McCabe when her Arsenal contract expires on July 1.
The 30-year-old has signed a contract with the Blues until 30 June 2029, with the option of an additional year.
McCabe made 305 appearances during an 11-year spell with Arsenal, helping them win the Women's Super League in 2019.
McCabe, whose family support Chelsea, said: "It's a new chapter in my career. This is something that I feel I'm ready for right now.
"I'm really excited to get going and show the Chelsea fans how ready I am to perform for the badge.
"I'm so looking forward to walking out at Stamford Bridge as a home player, being around the fan base and competing for trophies on all fronts.
"This club has been successful for so many years. I want to keep pushing and driving that, and for me, it's about bringing that success back to Chelsea."

Earps set to join London City Lionesses
Former England goalkeeper Mary Earps is close to joining London City Lionesses.
The club has been in discussions with the soon-to-be free agent for some time and agreements are close to being finalised. The 33-year-old is set to join from Paris Saint-Germain at the end of her contract.
Earps is keen on a WSL return after two years at PSG.
Earps was a key figure in England's Euro 2022-winning side, starting every game, and also featured throughout their run to the 2023 World Cup final. She shocked many by announcing her international retirement on the eve of Euro 2025.
Also, Mapi Leon has already confirmed she's leaving Barcelona and is set to finalise a deal to sign for the London City Lionesses.
London City Lionesses are also in discussions to sign Alexia Putellas but she is weighing up offers from the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) before making a decision.
Bellamy commits to Wales: I'm going nowhere
Craig Bellamy has committed himself to Wales after speculation linking him with the Celtic and Burnley jobs.
Despite the hurt of missing out on World Cup qualification following defeat in the play-offs in March, Bellamy is fully focused on his current role and being the Wales boss for a home Euros in 2028.
Speaking on Monday ahead of Wales' friendly against Ghana on Tuesday night, Bellamy insists he wants to see the job through over the next two years with his country.
He said: "I don't need anything else. That'll come at another time and then we'll have a different discussion then.
"But I think four years is about right. I don't think a manager should be longer than that in international football. It will be someone else's turn in two years' time.
"I'm not going anywhere, I've got another two years.
"I am ambitious though, trust me."
Cucurella's Chelsea future in doubt
Marc Cucurella's future at Chelsea is in doubt, with several clubs having been been in contact with the Spain left back's representatives regarding a summer move away from Stamford Bridge, according to reports in the New York Times.
Xabi Alonso recently took charge at Chelsea after a disappointing campaign which saw the west London club finish down in 10th place in the Premier League and without a trophy.
However, Cucurella only signed a new deal last summer and still has three years left on that contract, although it is also understood the Blues would not prevent the 27-year-old from leaving if a club meets their valuation of the player.
LaLiga champions Barcelona, as well as Atletico Madrid, are both said to have enquired about Cucurella's availability.
Versatile Netherlands international Jorrel Hato, who joined Chelsea from Ajax last summer, would be an option to replace Cucurella.
